Since finishing my degree at Birmingham City University I have had various administrative
jobs including:
2009 - 18 months working at Birmingham City University as a student support and
Assessments Officer. Responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks including
student enrolment and assessment, assignment collection, dealing with prospective and
current student enquiries, timetabling, running of the school office help desk and
supporting members of the academic and administrative staff.
2008 – Five months working for the Civil Service Insolvency Centre in Birmingham as a Redundancy Case Officer responsible for an assigned case load of corporate insolvency clients. The work included being the main point of contact for creditors including former employees of the business. The nature of the work involved dealing with people often in a very distressed, emotional or aggravated state of mind.
2007 – Five months working as a Client Liaison Officer for a Birmingham based Financial Services firm – David Abbey and Associates.
2006/2007 – Five months working at the Lloyds TSB Securities Centre in Birmingham.
2005 – Six months in the Customer Services Department at the Head Office of Fat Face Limited, the leisure clothing retail business based in Havant, Hampshire.
Through these (and various other) roles I have gained extensive experience in data input, handling of confidential information, organising and maintaining diaries, working both as part of a team and on my own initiative, managing a case load, logging orders and dealing with enquiries, liaising with both individuals and corporate customers, acquisition of telephone and letter writing skills.
All of the above together with my education and life experiences learned whilst travelling have given me the self-resilience, confidence and inter-personal skills required for dealing with both business colleagues and customers alike.
In addition I have acquired practical computing, music production and recording experiences touring with bands including the staging and setting up of gigs in the role of sound and amplification technician and running a portable live recording set up in several live music venues.
My own personal composition, performances, design and production of podcast recording and promotional materials have helped to further my passion for the music industry.
LEISURE INTERESTS
Music plays a large part in my life including composing, arranging, performing (piano, guitar, clarinet and vocals) recording and production and I am a regular attender of pop festivals including Glastonbury for the last ten years.
In addition I enjoy various sporting activities including, beach fishing, golf, football and am an avid follower of the Formula 1 Grand Prix season.
At University I was a member of various social and other activity groups including the freestyle Frisbee team representing the University at events across the UK.
I also enjoy travelling and experiencing other cultures and have just returned from six months backpacking in the Far East including India, Thailand and New Zealand which, of necessity, involved considerable planning and budgetary skills.
